01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

First comes the soft, almost molten batter; then the springy bite of a generous piece of octopus. Diners have remarked on the takoyaki’s airy, creamy texture and savoury dashi flavour, while some who chose the sauce version have noted how well it balances the sweet-and-savoury sauce. To appreciate the texture and the octopus, start with the classic takoyaki, then choose a flavour to suit your taste: sauce, ponzu, dashi soy sauce, salt or shio tare.

Negi mayo puts green onion in the spotlight. It comes in portions of 6, 8 or 10, with choices including sauce, ponzu, dashi soy sauce and salt. Reviews mention diners ordering it with salt or dashi soy sauce, making it easy to compare flavours across the same dish. You can also ask for no mayonnaise, or opt for plain takoyaki to enjoy the batter on its own.

For a quick bite on the go, try takosen: 2 takoyaki pieces sandwiched between shrimp crackers. It is not available for eating inside, and cannot be packaged for takeaway, so it is worth knowing the restrictions before ordering. The eat-in area is standing-room only; some diners have enjoyed watching the takoyaki being cooked right in front of them. Waiting times appear to vary by visit, so allow some extra time and decide in advance whether you plan to eat there or take your order away.
